Men accused of taking purses worth $2,300

Two men have been arrested in the theft of designer purses from two St. Petersburg stores, and police have identified a third suspect, St. Petersburg police said today.

George William Reed, 29, has been charged with two counts of grand theft. amd Vangelios Hristov, 24, has been charged with one count grand theft.

On the evening of July 16, three men stole five Michael Kors purses, valued at $895, from T.J. Maxx, 2105 66th St. N. and then fled on foot. The next afternoon, the same three men went to Marshalls, 2036 66th St. N., and took eight Michael Kors purses, valued at $1,432. The suspects then fled the store and fled in a blue sedan.

Tips received after surveillance video led to the suspects’ arrests, police said. The third suspect has been identified but hasn’t been arrested.
