A joint local-federal narcotics investigation has resulted in more than a dozen arrests, the seizure of drugs and confiscation of 13 firearms in the northwest Largo.
Largo police received tips from the community that led the department to monitor narcotics activity during October 2012 near Beverly Avenue and Clearwater Largo Road. After undercover drug transactions, agents then determined the primary distribution point was 908 Beverly Ave.
Several firearms and additional narcotics were then purchased, police said.
Largo agents then contacted Clearwater police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives.
This week, investigative action accelerated, according to police. Largo and Clearwater police assisted the ATF in the executing a federal search warrant. On Tuesday, Largo and Clearwater officers conducted a sweep of other suspects. The remaining suspects were arrested Wednesday by Largo officers.
This operation resulted in 29 suspects being arrested on state and federal violations and the removal of 13 firearms, approximately 20 grams of crack cocaine, 40 grams of marijuana, 40 grams of hydrocodone and 40 grams of other narcotics, police said. The firearms seized during this operation ranged from semi-automatic rifles, shotgun and several handguns. Four of these firearms were stolen.
