A busy section of Countryside Boulevard in Clearwater has been reopened in both directions.
Earlier Thursday a gas leak damaged the road near the Westfield Countyside Mall and left approximately 10 businesses without gas service, city officials said.
Officials detoured traffic between U.S. Highway 19 and the entrance to the mall in order to cap the gas line and repair damage to the road.
Gas service has been restored to all Clearwater Gas commercial customers, officials said.
The gas leak started when a contractor hit a 2-inch gas line while installing a traffic mast on Countryside Boulevard at the mall entrance, Clearwater officials said earlier Thursday.
