Ex-International Diamond Center worker charged in $88,000 theft

LARGO – An employee of the International Diamond Center was arrested Wednesday, accused of stealing more than $88,000 worth of watches, links and other jewelry from the business over a 10-month period.

Christal Jean Anderson, 32, of St. Petersburg, was charged with scheme to defraud. She was being held at the Pinellas County Jail on $50,000 bond.

In two instances, Anderson pawned some of the items herself, according to an arrest affidavit. She also had another person sell items on her behalf at several locations and received more than $18,000 as a result of those transactions, the affidavit states.

The International Diamond Center is located at 3696 Ulmerton Road in Clearwater. Anderson no longer works there.
