Two people were injured Wednesday morning in a crash on eastbound Gandy Boulevard in St. Petersburg that caused a rush-hour backup and delays for commuters trying to get to Tampa.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision at 10596 Gandy Blvd N., according to St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue.

A blue minivan overturned and the driver had to be extricated, Fire Rescue said. She was treated and taken to Bayfront Medical Center for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle was treated and declined to be taken to a hospital.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
