Driver gets seven years in pedestrian fatality

— A Largo man was sentenced to seven years in prison after he struck a pedestrian two years ago in Largo, then kept driving.

James Arthur Page, 32, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He had pleaded guilty to all four charges on April 3.

Page was driving in the vicinity of East Bay Drive and Emerald Lane the night of May 11, 2012, when he struck Craig Michael Horner, 52, of Belleair Bluffs, court documents say. Page was sentenced on Tuesday, His attorney, Dyril Flanagan, said prosecutors initially were interested in a sentence of 10-12 years, but an arrangment was worked out for Page to serve seven years.
