Pinellas County detectives are seeking information on a man they said threatened to kidnap children in a Safety Harbor park.
Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit say the man was last seen Sunday around 2:43 p.m., heading north toward the Philippe Park entrance at 2525 Philippe Parkway, prior to the deputies' arrival.
Deputies say a child in a playground at the park overheard the man saying he wanted to kidnap the children who were playing there. Two witnesses observed the man watching the children and then attempted to hide behind a tree before walking away from the playground, deputies say.
The man did not make any attempts to abduct a child, deputies say.
The man is described as a white male in his 50s, betwee 5 feet 6 and 5 feet 9, about 180-200 pounds. He has brownish blonde hair with a receding hairline and was wearing a black shirt with black pants.
