Culinary students face taste test to make competitive team

TARPON SPRINGS — More than 80 students from the Jacobson Culinary Arts Academy spent Thursday morning baking, broiling and basting in hopes of landing a spot on the school’s culinary competition team.

Only 20 spots were available for the team, which participates in local, state and national cooking competitions.

To qualify, the students had two hours to produce a restaurant-quality dish to impress chef instructors Katie Foltz, Cathleen Ryan and Gui Alinat.
