A Clearwater man was charged Saturday with two counts of sexual battery on a child and his wife was charged with not reporting the abuse, deputies said.

James P. Millard, 29, of 1304 Sunset Point Road, was arrested after the 8-year-old victim told authorities he sexually battered her multiple times over the past two years, deputies said.

Millard told deputies he sexually abused the girl twice, according to a release from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Millard’s wife, Jennifer Millard, 31, was charged with one count of child neglect after deputies learned that she knew about the abuse but did not report it, according to the release.

The crimes occurred at a private residence in Pinellas County and the victim knew her abusers, deputies said.

James and Jennifer Millard were taken to Pinellas County jail. James Millard’s bond was set at $100,000 and Jennifer Millard’s bond was set at $5,000.
