The Tampa region will see a chance of showers moving in from the east today, forecasters said.
Storms are moving in to Hillsborough and Pasco counties from Polk this morning, and the chance of rain continues throughout the afternoon and evening, said Megan Hatton, a News Channel 8 meteorologist.
High temperatures today will reach 87 degrees and gusty wind could create choppy seas, Hatton said.
A 10 percent rain chance continues through Saturday, but cooler, dryer air is on the way, Hatton said.
Thursday and Friday will be more breezy due to Tropical Storm Sandy, which is expected to move north and parallel Florida's east coast early Saturday.
A tropical storm watch is in effect for South Florida.
As the storm moves to the northeast, it will pull the moisture with it and leave dry, cooler air in its place.
High temperatures for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are forecast to be in the low 80s and upper 70s, and low temperatures could drop into the low 60s and upper 50s in some areas.
