A car crashed into a mailbox, a parked car and through a screened pool enclosure on Tuesday night, stopping after part of the car went in the pool, Clearwater police said.

Driver Kyle Strecker, 24, of Largo was driving the 1998 Saturn westbound on South Prescott Avenue when the crash took place about 8:15 p.m. in the street’s 1500 block, police said.

Strecker fled after the crash but was arrested about three blocks away by an officer with the help of a neighbor who saw the crash and followed Strecker, police said.

Strecker has been cited for careless driving and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, police said. Other charges are possible as the investigation continues.

No injuries were reported. Police said the parked car sustained $1,000 in damage, the pool enclosure sustained $10,000 in damage and the mailbox was a total loss.
