Businesses donate glasses to Campbell Park students

Published:

When more than 40 students at Campbell Park Elementary in St. Petersburg were in need of glasses, local businesses Eye Designs Vision and Future Optics/Essilor stepped up to donate them and eye exams for free.

Optometrists Victoria Melcher and Valerie Potter of Eye Designs Vision provided exams for all the students Tuesday morning and allowed them to select their favorite frames.

Jim Zellmer, owner of Future Optics/Essilor, will donate the lenses and deliver the glasses to the school before the start of the holiday break.

More than 90 percent of students at Campbell Park come from low-income families and qualify for the federal free or reduced lunch program. The students will now have clear vision in time for the holidays.
