Classes will resume this afternoon as the St. Petersburg College Gibbs campus has been deemed safe following a bomb threat earlier this morning.

Officers and school officials concluded a search and reported no threatening or unusual items were located.

The campus, at 6605 5th Ave. N., was evacuated and morning classes were canceled after officials received a call around 8:30 a.m. from a man saying a bomb was placed on campus.

Police say they received a second call at the main campus, on 244 2nd Ave. N., about 20 minutes later from a man claiming the same information.

An investigation into who placed the call is ongoing.
