A 52-year-old bicyclist was struck by a pickup truck at a north Pinellas County intersection and later died at a hospital, investigators said.

The bicyclist was identified by the Florida Highway Patrol as Mark Allen Lustfeldt, of Oldsmar.

The incident occurred at 4:47 p.m. at Curlew Road and McMullen-Booth Road in the Countryside area, according to a highway patrol report.

A 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling south in the center lane of McMullen-

Booth approaching Curlew, the report said. Lustfeldt was pedaling in the crosswalk of the intersection, heading east.

The bicycle traveled into the path of the pickup, which was entering the intersection under a green traffic signal, the report said. The bicycle collided with the left front of the pickup.

Lustfeldt was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, and later died from injuries sustained in the collision.

The driver of the Silverado, 23-year-old Jeffrey Johnston, of St. Petersburg, reported no injuries, the highway patrol said.

Johnston was not charged in the incident, the report said.
