Arrest made in Seminole hit-and-run that injured motorcyclist

A Seminole man has been arrested in Wednesday’s hit-and-run crash that injured a motorcyclist on Seminole Boulevard.

Daniel McCaslin, 44, faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.

McCaslin, of 8223 Parkwood Blvd., was booked Thursday night at the Pinellas County Jail with bail set at $5,250.

Deputies located McCaslin through various investigative techniques and tips received, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies said they made contact with him about 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Treasure Island.

About 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, a silver sedan was was seen going south on Seminole Boulevard. The car made a left turn onto Bay Pines Boulevard, turning in front of a Harley-Davidson ridden by 65-year-old Randy K. Deane, of Largo, deputies said.

The motorcycle struck the car, deputies said, and the car’s driver continued on Bay Pines.

Deane was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
