16-year-old accidentally shoots 14-year-old in Seminole, deputies say

Pinellas County authorities are investigating what is being a called an accidental shooting of a 14-year-old Sunday in Seminole.

About 4:20 p.m., the two boys arrived at the home at a home, 9501 134th Way North, after baseball practice. The two went into a room where the older teen was showing the younger teen a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. While showing the rifle, it fired, shooting the 14-year-old in the stomach, according to deputies.

The victim was taken by helicopter to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There were no adults inside the home at the time of the shooting, deputies said. No charges will be filed against the 16-year-old.
