The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office says that 19 people were arrested and 12 vehicles were impounded during a five-hour DUI checkpoint in Clearwater Friday night.
The checkpoint was set up at Clearwater High School, 540 S. Hercules Avenue, beginning at 10 p.m., and lasted until 3 a.m. this morning.
In that time, suspects were charged with the following crimes:
-Eight counts of driving under the influence
-Five counts of driving with a suspended or revoked license
-Two counts of driving with no valid license
-Four counts of marijuana possession
-One count of possession of alprazolam
-One count of possession of vyvanse
-One count of possession of drugs with no prescription
-One count of providing a false name to an officer
-One count of possession of crystal meth
-One count of refusing to obey a lawful command
-One count of felony violation of probation
-One count of possession of drug paraphernalia
-One count of violation of license restriction
Sheriff’s deputies said that Friday’s checkpoint was dedicated to Steven Thillard, who suffered brain trauma during a collision with an impaired driver in Largo in 2006.
