ZEPHYRHILLS — Toys For Tots gave out about $40,000 in toys at the Zephyrhills distribution held at the Lions Club Sunday morning.

People were waiting in line before 5 p.m. Saturday for the 8 a.m. opening on Sunday.

Ken Keith, co-coordinator for East Pasco Toys for Tots, organized the toy collections and was in charge of the distribution efforts.

“We did 900 kids, and each child got no less than five or six toys apiece as well as stocking stuffers,” Keith said.

The toys came from individual donations in boxes at various locations as well as the Mail Carrier’s Drive and financial contributions.

The Zephyrhills Moose Lodge gave a donation $6,800 for the purchase of toys. Dave Davenport, a former Marine of the Southport Springs community, held a benefit at the community and raised $2,600, Keith said. He also said the Lions Club itself donated the use of its 17,000 square-foot building to hold the distribution,

East Pasco Toys for Tots also held distributions in Lacoochee, Dade City and Wesley Chapel.
