A motorcyclist died Wednesday morning in a collision with a car that pulled in front of him in Wesley Chapel, investigators said.
Samuel Leslie Hemphill, 54, of Wesley Chapel, was ejected from his bike and died from injuries sustained in the crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
At 6 a.m., a 2006 Volvo S40 traveling south on Nashville Drive was approaching County Line Road, just east of Interstate 75. Hemphill’s 2005 Yamaha was westbound on County Line Road approaching the intersection, troopers said.
The Volvo, driven by Alejandro Acevedo Rodriguez, came to a complete stop for a posted stop sign and proceeded to make a left turn on County Line Road, troopers said. The Volvo traveled into the motorcycle’s path, and the bike hit the left front of the Volvo, according to an investigator’s report.
Hemphill, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene, the report said.
Rodriguez, 34, of Wesley Chapel, was not injured, the report said.
Charges are pending, the report said.
