This weekend, crews widening U.S. 41 in central Pasco County will shift southbound traffic in the construction zone to new southbound lanes.
The shift will happen at noon Sunday and will remain in effect until construction ends, according to the Department of Transportation.
The shift will affect U.S. 41 from just north of Gator Lane south to Tower Road.
After moving traffic into the new lanes, workers will begin building a median between the northbound and southbound lanes of the highway.
The widening of U.S. 41 is being paid for by federal stimulus funding. Pasco County officials put the road on their list of "shovel-ready" projects eligible for funding two years ago.
