Upcoming charter school launches website

Published:

LAND O’ LAKES — Classical Preparatory School, a charter school scheduled to open for the fall of 2014, has launched a website where parents of prospective students can get information.

The website, classical prep.org, includes a list of frequently asked questions and a “letter of interest” form for students.

Students at Classical Prep will be required to study subjects such as Latin, logic and moral philosophy.

“The information included on the website at this stage is aimed at ensuring anyone visiting will find the resources they need to determine if this type of education is a good fit for them,” Anne Corcoran, president of the school’s board, said in a prepared statement.

Classical Preparatory School expects to serve 254 students in kindergarten through eighth grade its first year.

The school plans to add a grade each year until it offers all four years of high school as well.

Charter schools are public schools, but operated privately.

Charter schools do not charge tuition because they receive funding from tax dollars.
