Two people were killed this morning when their vehicle was involved in a four-car collision in Hudson, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
About 11:40 a.m., a 2006 Ford Taurus driven by Lee Carl Miller, 87, of Hudson was northbound on U.S. 19 in the inside turn lane approaching Tower Drive. Meanwhile, a 2006 Dodge Charger driven by Lisa Ann Witfoth, 36, of Hudson was southbound on U.S. 19 in the inside lane approaching the same intersection, FHP said.
The Ford turned in front of the Dodge, which hit the passenger side of the Taurus, FHP said.
A southbound 2003 Honda Civic in the center lane tried to avoid a collision, but also struck the passenger side of the Taurus. Then a 2004 Nissan Altima hit the Dodge, troopers said.
Miller and his passenger, Vilma Ann Miller, 87, of Hudson died at the scene, FHP said.
Witfoth received minor injuries, but she was not taken to a hospital, troopers said. Her passenger, Abigail Brook Witfoth, 3, was not hurt.
Neither of the other drivers was hurt, FHP said.
Portions of the intersection were closed until 3:25 p.m.
