WESLEY CHAPEL — The toxicology report for Chad Oulson showed there were no drugs or alcohol in his system at the time he was shot to death in a Wesley Chapel movie theater, the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s Office reported Thursday.

Oulson, 43, of Land O’ Lakes, died of a single gunshot wound to the chest on Jan. 13 at the Cobb Theatre where he and his wife, Nicole, had gone to see the movie “Lone Survivor.” Nicole Oulson was shot in the hand by the same bullet that killed her husband.

Curtis Reeves Jr., 71, a retired Tampa police captain, has been charged with second-degree murder and aggravated battery. He and Chad Oulson reportedly became involved in an altercation over Oulson texting during the movie previews and that led to the shooting, authorities said.

Reeves, who is being held in the Land O’ Lakes Jail without bail, is scheduled to appear in court at 11 a.m. March 12 for a pretrial conference. His trial date is to be set at that time.
