Pedestrian struck by vehicle in New Port Richey

A 66-year-old man is in serious condition after he was struck by a vehicle in New Port Richey this afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

At 2:18 p.m., a 2011 Toyota driven by Linda Sue Tumminelli, 64, of Spring Hill was westbound on an access road near the northeast corner of State Road 54 and Madison Street. Meanwhile, James Calvin Neuendorf of New Port Richey was walking southbound across the access road. He walked into the path of the vehicle and was struck, FHP said.

Neuendorf was taken to Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center. Tumminelli was not hurt.

Charges are pending, FHP said.
