LAND O’ LAKES — It’s kitten season and Pasco County Animal Services has dropped the price for all cat adoptions this month from $40 to $15 in an effort to clear out the shelter.

“The shelter is overflowing with kittens, and we need to make sure these babies get good homes,” said Debra Sue Warshefski, education coordinator for the department.

Anyone interested in adopting a dog or puppy this weekend can name their own fee, and all proceeds will go to the nonprofit Friends of Animal Services group. The typical adoption fee is $70, which includes vaccination, microchip and spay/neuter.

Additional adoption specials this month include: Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat, Father’s Day and Celebrate Our Volunteers promotions.

The adoption center is open from noon to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; from noon to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
