NEW PORT RICHEY -

A 16-year-old boy is in stable condition after being struck by a car Thursday afternoon that failed to yield to a stopped school bus, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Tyler Donohoe of New Port Richey was riding his bicycle around 4:30 p.m. when he was hit by the car. He was transported to Bayfront Medical Center.

A school bus was stopped with its stop paddles activated in the right northbound turn lane of U.S. Highway 19. A Ford Mustang driven by Daniel Holbrook of Port Richey failed to stop and continued heading north on U.S. Highway 19 when he struck Donohoe, the patrol said.

Donohoe, who wasn't wearing a helmet, was heading west across the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 19.

The crash remains under investigation.
