DADE CITY — Pioneer Florida Museum presented their 24th Annual Farm Fest and Quilt Show Saturday and Sunday, featuring a quilt display from the Hoffman Challenge Quilt Collection based in Windsor, Colo., local quilts, traditional crafters, a cane syrup grinding and a southern draft horse pulling competition.
More than 1,500 people attended the event, according to museum director Barbara Russ.
A local quilting competition was part of the event and winners were on display in the Mabel Jordan Barn. Best of Show, first place/wall hanging and second place/large bed quilt went to Chris Sudberry. Kay Morrow took first in small bed quilt, Chong Kropik won first in quilted fashion and Luther Monkelin took the top spot in large bed quilt. Jessica Koop was presented with the kid’s award and Curator’s Choice went to a quilt sewn in the 1850s from the family of Connie Jo Martinez.
