A Pasco County man, angry that employees at a Dade City McDonald’s wouldn’t serve him at a drive-thru window after he walked up, was arrested early Sunday morning after threatening to shoot employees and patrons, according to authorities.

James Edward Lee Head, 59, was arrested by Dade City police officers around 12:30 a.m. Sunday and charged with assault.

Moments before the arrest, Head, 38121 McDonald St., Dade City, walked up to the fast-food restaurant’s drive-thru window at 13026 U.S. Highway 301 and attempted to order food, according to Dade City police Capt. David Duff.

Head was told he could not be served at the window due to policy and safety reasons and was told to come inside instead, Duff said. The man became irate and said he had an AK-47 and a 9mm handgun and was going to shoot everyone inside the business, according to the arrest report.

Customers waiting in the drive-thru line drove away because of the threats, police said.

A store manager called Dade City police and Head was arrested in the restaurant’s parking lot. Authorities said no guns were found when they arrested Head.

Head remains in the Land O’ Lakes Jail with $150 bond.
