Several families inside a Holiday apartment complex were displaced late Tuesday night after portions of the walkway ceiling began to collapse, according to Pasco County Fire Rescue.
About 10:30 p.m., fire rescue received its first call regarding the issue at The Park at Barrington Place, 4348 Plaza Drive, according to Fire Marshal Donald Campbell.
Sections of the wet cement ceiling began to fall along the walkway. Officials did not know how many residents were evacuated from the 32-unit complex.
According to apartment management, the residents had not returned Wednesday afternoon as debris was still being removed.
While investigators were on scene, portion of the ceiling continued to fall, Campbell said. All of the damage was contained to the walkways, he said. There was no interior damage to any of the apartment units.
No one was injured.
“That was the good part,” Campbell said. “Nobody got hurt. It was just a matter of relocating people.”
Management at the complex put residents up at two area hotels.
