Four adults and three children escaped from a fire early Wednesday that destroyed a 6,000-square-foot Dade City home, officials said.
One of the adult residents and a Pasco County firefighter sustained minor injuries, officials said.
The fire was under control, but officials said crews will remain the scene for several hours to clear debris, county government spokesman Doug Tobin said.
Firefighters arrived about 4:30 a.m. to 37640 Sky Ridge Circle and found flames coming from the two-story home and in-law suite. The 911 call was made from the residence.
Officials said that due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area, firefighters utilized five tankers to shuttle water to the fire.
One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, officials said.
The injured resident was not being transported to a hospital at this time, Tobin said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
