A body found by Sunday in a state park was a 39-year-old Port Richey man who likely committed suicide, Pasco sheriff’s detectives said.
On Monday, detectives said at least six days passed before hikers discovered the body at Werner Boyce Salt Springs State Park, 6641 State Road 52, Port Richey.
The hikers called deputies about 4:20 p.m. Sunday, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
Preliminary information indicated the man took his own life, deputies said. Next of kin has been notified.
An autopsy was scheduled and an investigation remained active.
