A Pasco County middle school student was arrested after throwing a chair inside a classroom and later knocking over a stack of chairs onto his teacher, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
The student, a 14-year-old male at Paul R. Smith Middle School in Holiday, was in class and arguing with his former girlfriend Friday about 2 p.m. The student became “enraged,” toppling over his desk and throwing his chair at a classroom closet, deputies said.
When the teacher, Ashley Glynn, told the teen to leave the classroom, he called Glynn an expletive and then knocked over a 6-foot-tall stack of chairs onto the teacher, the arrest report said. Glynn sustained bruising to her left knee and hip, deputies said.
The student was found by a school resource officer in the courtyard and walked into the deputy’s office, where he was later arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center at the Land O’ Lakes Jail on charges of battery on school personnel.
