A Land O' Lakes man who stole a bike and then climbed a 30-foot tree to escape capture finally came down this morning after 11 hours and was arrested, deputies said.

Ray Allen Charron, 37, was charged with strong arm robbery, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence, said Kevin Doll, spokesman for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

About 2 p.m. Friday, Charron pushed an adult off a bike and then put it in his truck, Doll said.

When a deputy arrived Charron fought and the deputy called for backup, Doll said. Charron ran and climbed a tree near the intersection of Bell Lake Road and Lake Padgett Road, Doll said.

He finally came down at 1 a.m., Doll said.
