A Zephyrhills man was charged Thursday after investigators say he was selling stolen merchandise at a Lakeland flea market.
Richard Green, 62, was charged following a joint investigation with Polk County detectives and the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office.
The agencies began their investigation following a tip that Green was selling stolen merchandise at the Silver Moon Flea Market in Lakeland.
On Thursday, undercover detectives observed Green stealing items from the Harbor Freight Tools store and the Tractor Supply store in north Lakeland.
Green was taken into custody without incident, Polk County deputies say.
Investigators discovered he had stolen $20,000 worth of merchandise from area stores, and selling it at the flea market.
Green showed investigators several plastic boxes in his pickup truck, containing stolen items ranging from batteries, tools and personal grooming items worth about $10,000.
Green told investigators the stolen merchandise came from Tractor Supply, Harbor Freight Tools, Big Lots, and several other stores in Pasco, Hillsborough and Polk counties, and that he had been selling stolen goods for more than three years.
Green is being held on $5,000 bond at the Polk County jail.
