Deputies arrested a Port Richey man Sunday after he allegedly beat his girlfriend and smeared his blood on her face, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
About 1:45 a.m. Sunday, William David Whisler III, 29, was at the 8614 Schrader Blvd. home he shares with his girlfriend when the pair began to argue, an arrest report said.
During the argument, Whisler grabbed the woman, who is the mother of one of his children, slammed her to the floor and began to punch her in the face and arms, according to deputies.
As the woman struggled to get free, she began to swing her arms and kick with her legs. One of the blows connected, drawing blood from Whisler, deputies said.
Whisler, according to deputies, smeared his blood on his girlfriend’s face and arm. At the time of the fight, their child and two of the girlfriend’s children were at the home. The woman’s 9-year-old daughter said she grabbed her backpack and swung it at Whisler to make him stop the assault.
At some point, the woman was able to gather the children and run to a neighbor’s home and call deputies.
When deputies arrived, Whisler barricaded himself inside the home and for several hours as authorities attempted to make contact using loud speakers, knocking on the door and windows, and calling the home number. Deputies also brought his mother to the scene in an attempt to talk him out of the house. Whisler was taken into custody at 6:34 p.m. Sunday and charged with domestic battery. He remains in the Land O Lakes Jail with a $20,000 bond.
This is second arrest in Pasco County in three years for domestic battery. The first was Nov. 22, 2010.
