Pasco County sheriff’s deputies say the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man early today was a drug-related homicide.

The man, whose name has not released by the sheriff’s office pending notification of family members, died hours after he was taken to a Land O’ Lakes convenience store with a gunshot wound this morning, deputies said.

The man had been shot in the abdomen, deputies said.

After he arrived at the 7-Eleven, at 2400 U.S. 41, the sheriff’s office was called at 4:16 a.m. Deputies arrived three minutes later, the sheriff’s office said.

The man was taken to St. Joseph's North in Tampa, where he was pronounced dead

Detectives believe the shooting took place at 8003 Sequester Loop in Land O'Lakes, where a marijuana grow house was found.

The investigation is continuing.
