A New Port Richey woman is accused of stealing more than $28,000 from the woman she was hired to care for, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.

Tuesday night, deputies arrested Leanne L. Ridenour, 48, 4032 Woodsville Dr., who was hired as a caretaker for a woman suffering from dementia. Sometime between March and December 2012, Ridenour is accused of stealing about $28,500 from the woman’s account for her own personal use.

Ridenour used her power of attorney privileges to access the money, an arrest report said.

She is charged with exploitation of the elderly and remains in the Land O’ Lakes Jail with a bond of $10,000.
