Database nets doctor-shopping arrest

Published:

NEW PORT RICHEY — A New Port Richey man faces charges that he obtained narcotics prescriptions from at least five doctors who were unaware he had visited and been given prescriptions by others during the same period, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Keith Charles Dyer, 32, of 7502 Mitchell Ranch Road, was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges of withholding information from a medical practitioner. He was taken to Land O’ Lakes Jail and later released after posting $25,000 bail.

Dyer had repeatedly obtained prescriptions from the doctors since May 4, 2011, his arrest report states.

Dyer’s activities were discovered because of a law enforcement report from the Florida Prescription Drug Monitoring Program database, the report states.
