NEW PORT RICHEY — West Pasco voters will have a three-way Republican primary Sept. 17 for the House seat vacated by longtime legislator Mike Fasano.
The winner faces Democrat Amanda Murphy in a Oct. 15 special election. Murphy was the last candidate to enter the race and paid the $1,781 qualifying fee.
Republicans Bill Gunter, James Mathieu and Jeromy Harding all qualified by the petition method. No Party candidate Richard Thomas Sikes failed to qualify.
Gunter is the pastor of Redeemor Community Presbyterian Church. Mathieu is an attorney and founder of a charter school. Harding is an insurance agent.
District 36 includes coastal Pasco, west of Little Road. Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley said voters can request absentee ballots online at www.pascovotes.com.
