Skate park opens April 19 in Town ‘N Country

Skateboarders and inline skaters in the Town ‘N Country area are getting their own park on April 19.

The Northwest Skate Park at Jackson Springs, 8620 Jackson Springs Road, will have its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with giveaways, lunch, live music, and an inline skating and skateboarding party.

Built by Team Pain Skate Parks, the park has a full pipe, hubba-ledge, granite rails, manual pad, pole jam and other “California-style” features in the snake-run course.

The other two county skate parks are in Apollo Beach and Brandon.

Here are the hours for the parks:

* Monday: Closed.

* Tuesday to Thursday: 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. (10 p.m. in Apollo Beach).

* Friday: 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

* Saturday: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

* Sunday: Noon to 8 p.m.

Florida law requires helmets for all boarders and skaters. Elbow and knee pads are recommended, but are mandatory for skaters 12 years of age or younger.

All skate park users, or a parent of those under the age of 18, will be required to sign a notarized waiver. A notary and waiver forms will be provided at the grand opening.

The Northwest park’s opening is sponsored by Zumiez, Bent Industries, Klever Skateboards, Ambition Skate Shop, Steezy Griptape, Skatepark of Tampa, Team Pain, Tribal Style (band), Sunny Fluff Skate Shop, and Friends of the County Parks.
