LUTZ – Children had a chance to tell Santa their wishes over breakfast, make crafts and visit decorated school rooms at the 17th annual Christmas at the Old Lutz Schoolhouse.
Sponsored by the Citizens for the Old Lutz School Building in cooperation with various Lutz groups, the Dec. 14 event drew families from across the Lutz and Land O’ Lakes area and beyond. Volunteers assisted children making ornaments and preparing sausages, biscuits, doughnuts and bagels.
Emily Houts, 15, of Land O’ Lakes had a special role – that of “Elfie,” who took notes on the Santa requests.
The breakfast of was in conjunction with the open house at the school house, 18818 U.S. Highway 41. The rooms feature trains, villages, wooden soldiers, decorated trees, manager scenes and more – all donations from local residents, organizations and businesses.
The school house will be open from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items for those in need.
