One dead, one hospitalized after Town ‘N Country crash

A driver died and his passenger is hospitalized this morning after the vehicle they were in struck a tree and then a utility pole in Town ‘N Country.

At 4 a.m., a 2003 Honda Accord driven by Saul Vallejo, 30, was southbound on Town and Country Boulevard near Marston Court when he failed lost control of the car in a right curve in the road, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The Accord rotated clockwise as it left the road, struck a tree on the driver’s side, then changed rotation, traveled 25 feet and struck a utility pole with the passenger side.

Vallejo, of 4734 Normandy Drive #A, Tampa, died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. He was not wearing a seat belt. His passenger, Katiria Serrano, 28, of 1360 S. Washington Avenue, #1, Clearwater, was transported to a hospital and is in stable condition. She was wearing a seat belt and shoulder harness.

The intersection has been reopened.
