LUTZ — The Lutz Centennial Chili Cook Off and Classic Car Show is Saturday with celebrities, food and music.
The event, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., is at the Lutz Train Depot on U.S. Highway 41 and will feature 970 WFLA’s Jack Harris as emcee for the day. The Tampa Tribune’s Steve Otto will lead the team of judges in the chili cook off.
Attendees who want to sample the chili can purchase an “official chili mug” for $5 for tastings starting at noon.
The celebration includes a car show with classic cars, exotics and motorcycles. Entertainment will include the Fritzy Bros., One Man Circus, and local musical group Lonesome Hobos. Birthday cake will be distributed following the activities.
The centennial celebrates the 1913 approval of a request for a U.S. post office in the community then known merely as North Tampa. The post office was named for the Lutz train depot, which dates to 1907.
