TAMPA — Chiropractor Suzanne Demers’ diagnosis of Crohn’s Disease not only changed her life, but changed her practice as well.
Demers, a lifelong athlete, was diagnosed with the intestinal affliction three years ago while working as a chiropractor in Naples.
“I told myself I was not going to be beaten by this disease,” Demers said. “I was going to live my life to the fullest and try to teach people how to do the same thing.”
She moved to Carrollwood and started her practice, Seagate Chiropractic, a Maximized Living Health Center, where she breaks down health and fitness concepts. Her goal is to make healthy living easy to understand.
Primarily, she helps patients learn efficient spinal corrections to alleviate aches and pains while relieving irregularities in the spine. She offers at-home spinal care exercises to complement the in-clinic correction procedures.
Additionally, there are nutrition recommendations and tips to help reduce dangerous toxins that, in the end, will help balance the body’s hormones and overcome resistance to weight loss.
And it doesn’t end there. Demers encourages health talks and workshops to teach more on pressing health issues so that the user can not only ensure his or her own health but also monitor the health of friends and family.
Demers recommends supplemental health and well-being resources to help detoxify the body. She isn’t only working on the physical shape of her patients.
“The goal is for people to stay upbeat and get higher energy,” Demers said.
Away from the practice, Demers lives an active life on the water. She surfs, paddleboards, and was once a competitive swimmer. She was surfing at the age of 5 and has always taken nutrition seriously.
She plans to offer workshops on healthy cooking and is into physical and mental health and happiness for the long haul.
“We strive to offer only the best all-natural care in the world,” she said. “We know we can help you make a positive difference in your life. Our philosophy is to deliver real, lasting results through simple, easy-to-follow solutions.”
