HomeGoods is set to open a store fronting Bruce B. Downs Boulevard on Oct. 21.
The home décor retailer plans to debut a 25,000-square-foot store at 18071 Highwoods Preserve Parkway, in The Walk at Highwoods Preserve shopping center.
The Massachusetts-based chain is leasing a large commercial building previously occupied by Circuit City. World of Décor Auction Extravaganza, a road show of high-end home and lawn furnishings trucked from Orlando, also rented the space temporarily.
The home décor store will be adjacent to a Best Buy store.
When it opens, HomeGoods will stock a changing collection of 35,000 home and garden décor items.
It is entering a market already occupied by stores selling furniture and other home decorating items. HomeGoods spokesman Phil Tracey said HomeGoods' edge is its pricing. Items are priced lower than comparable ones found in specialty or department stores, he said.
There are three HomeGoods locations in Hillsborough County: 1945 W. Lumsden Road in Brandon; 1536 N. Dale Mabry Highway in South Tampa; and 17641 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Lutz.
