St. Petersburg police are investigating a woman's death today in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

Officers were called about 11:30 a.m. to 661 77th Ave. N., Apt. 303, and found the body of a woman inside.

A man who lives at the apartment, Albert Crandall, killed the woman and tried to kill himself. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was treated and medically cleared. He had left a murder-suicide note at the scene, police said.

Police arrested him on a charge of first-degree murder.

The name of the woman was withheld pending the notification of next of kin, police said.
