West Shore Boulevard will be resurfaced between Kennedy and Gandy boulevards beginning in early April, with completion scheduled for July.
Stores and homes will be accessible during the work, but only one direction of traffic will be open.
Construction will be from Sunday nights through Friday mornings between 9 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. Drivers should seek alternate routes during this period because traffic will be delayed and flaggers will be directing one-way traffic.
During construction, residents along South West Shore will be asked to remove vehicles from the right of way and roadway during work hours and should limit the use of irrigation systems to keep the roadway dry. Heavy equipment will be used, and residents should expect construction noise.
The project will replace nearly 53,000 feet of road surface to improve safety and reliability. The project, which will be handled by the Hillsborough County Public Works Department, will cost $741,000. The money will come from local gas and property taxes.
