During the rest of the year, Joe Stevens is a local accountant. On Good Friday, though, he plays a very different role.
For the past seven years, Stevens has portrayed Jesus in a Good Friday processional organized by First United Methodist Church of Lutz.
Stevens had to get special permission from work to grow his hair and beard to fit the part, said Rev. Rick Cabot, the First United Methodist Church pastor who began the Good Friday processional through downtown Tampa 27 years ago.
