Hillsborough County sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help locating a Riverview man suspected of breaking a dog's leg while having a violent argument with a woman.
Two warrants have been issued for Dorrell Maxwell Webb, 39, 10974 Winter Crest Drive, on charges of felony animal cruelty and felony battery domestic violence and stalking.
According to detectives, this is what happened:
On Nov. 5, Webb and the victim got into a verbal argument about relationship issues in Riverview. The victim feared for her safety and attempted to leave in her vehicle, but Webb grabbed the keys, breaking the key off in the ignition.
The victim attempted to telephone for help, but Webb grabbed her cell phone and shattered it against the driveway. The victim then tried to leave in another vehicle, but the suspect kept popping the hood and tampering with the engine to stop the victim from leaving.
The victim stepped out of the vehicle and closed the hood to attempt to leave. Webb then grabbed the victim's dog and threatened to break the dog's neck. He then threw the dog down against the driveway, fracturing the dog's leg in two areas.
The victim ran inside the home to call 911, and Webb followed the victim inside and ripped the phone cord out of the wall. When the victim went into another room to place a call, the suspect followed her and ripped that phone cord out of the wall as well.
The victim then told the suspect that she had placed the call to 911 before he was able to pull the cord, and the suspect left.
Since this incident, the suspect has entered the victim's home without the victim's permission on different occasions, detective said.
Webb drives an older model, baby blue Chevrolet Malibu or a black Ford Mustang convertible.
