An Auburndale man jumped into Interstate 4 traffic from a Polk City overpass Monday morning, was struck by a pickup truck and killed, officials said.

Eastbound traffic was detoured off I-4 at County Road 559 for about three hours, but was reopened after the area was cleared.

At 7:07 a.m., the 32-year-old man jumped off the State Road 559 overpass and landed on the eastbound lanes of I-4, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The man was struck by an eastbound 2014 Ford F-150 and killed, troopers said.

The Ford’s driver, Sean Klotzbach, 42, of Dover, was not injured, troopers said.
